Counseling focuses on treating mental health issues like depression and anxiety. It may involve diagnosing clients and referring them for medication. Licensed professionals, such as social workers or therapists, provide these services, which are regulated by state laws and ethical codes.
Coaching helps clients with concerns when they are generally stable but may face challenges. It has ethical guidelines but fewer restrictions on how and where services are delivered. Coaching typically lasts from 12 weeks to several months, depending on the services needed.

Counseling addresses specific issues, such as stress, mild mental health symptoms, and life transitions. It is typically solution-focused and short-term, lasting about 6 to 12 weeks, aiming to enhance coping strategies and reduce daily functioning impact.
In contrast, therapy (or psychotherapy) deals with broader emotional concerns like trauma, severe mental health issues, and anxiety. This process is often long-term, seeking to improve overall functioning and gain deeper understanding of the issues involved.
